Sunday Preview 12.03.17

I apologize for being slack in this area. It is not really about being slack, but strategic with my time. There were some other opportunities that I pursued for a few weeks and I chose to let this slide. With that said...

IT'S DECEMBER!!!

Hugo-John Christmas.jpg

I am more pumped about this Advent/Christmas season than I have been in a long time. Without a doubt Jody's messages will be on point and my encouragement is to guard against the potential of going through the motions. Fight the pull to just show up and not engage with Holy Spirit. Resist the ease of complacency that accompanies familiarity. My prayer is that we will see with fresh eyes the beauty and joy of the season. I pray that we would savor Christ. Be amazed by the gift. Embrace the unthinkable that a Holy God would clothe himself in flesh and dwell among us.

Also for this season I have written an Advent Devotional guide. You can download it here

I love getting to have discussions with people throughout the week about what God spoke to them in the worship gatherings. It is truly one of the many blessings in being a pastor. I rejoice in the things that God has done in the lives of our people and then I get to praying and thinking about the next Sunday.

I'm super excited about the next opportunity to gather together. This Sunday is going to be another day to gather as a family and point our attention and affection toward the Lord.

To celebrate what he has done in our lives this past week.

To encourage one another in running the race set before us.

Sunday mornings are an important part of our rhythm as believers.

I cannot stress enough the need to pause for a moment this week and prepare your heart for our gathering on Sunday morning. Allow the songs we are singing this week to help you.

See you Sunday morning!

At the time that I am writing this, I'm still reflecting on such an amazing GIC weekend. The more I reflect, the more I get excited about another time of gathering together as a family.

There are a few things that have me excited for this Sunday:

  1. We begin a new series this Sunday
  2. I just love being with our musicians. They are some of the best people around
  3. We will be receiving communion this Sunday

I'm praying for you church. I don't know what the Lord said to all of you over this past weekend and what purpose he revealed to you, but I'm praying for you. I'm praying that we will be a people who are marked by our God. I'm praying that the world will know that we have been with Jesus as they see the lives we lead throughout the week.

This Sunday will be a special one as we will be closing out our Global Impact Celebration (GIC). I cannot tell you how excited I am to be a part of this weekend. In preparation for this Sunday here is what I would ask you to do:

Come be a part of the whole weekend. From the service day to the worship gatherings. If possible don't miss it. This is going to be an awesome weekend. I get the privilege to lead worship with our band tonight (7pm) and I promise you that you won't want to miss our time together.

This Sunday we get a chance to GIVE toward missions and to bless the mission partners from around the world that have joined us. We will be praying over our missionaries at 9am and at 11:15. I can't wait!
